Flavoured Butters: Miso
If there’s one thing we’re always reaching for during busy weeks, it’s a flavour shortcut that delivers maximum impact with minimum effort. Enter: Miso Butter, the umami-packed, freezer-friendly hero you’ll want to keep on hand at all times.
This simple blend takes moments to make but transforms whatever you put it on. Whether you’re stir‑frying, finishing meat, or brightening up a bowl of veg, miso butter adds a silky, savoury depth that tastes like you’ve spent far longer in the kitchen than you actually have.
And while it’s endlessly versatile, our very favourite way to use it is melted over steaming frozen green vegetables served alongside one of our Thai curries. The richness of the miso butter against the aromatic heat of the curry? Absolutely delicious!
Ingredients
- 250g butter (1 standard pat), softened
- 60g white miso paste
Method
- Blend the softened butter and white miso together until completely smooth. You can do this by hand in a bowl or with a small blender for extra creaminess.
- Transfer the mixture onto a sheet of baking paper.
- Roll it into a tight sausage shape, twisting the ends to secure.
- Label your miso butter (because once you’ve stocked your freezer with a few of these flavour heroes, it’s easy to forget what’s what!).
- Freeze until solid. It will keep beautifully and slice neatly straight from the freezer whenever you need a quick pop of flavour.
