Serve with ByRuby curries, casseroles & chicken or fish dishes
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1.5 cups stock or water
- One or some of the following:
Zest of 1/2 a lemon or lime; a cardamom pod or cinnamon stick; a bay leaf; a small pinch of saffron strands; a pinch of chilli flakes; a handful of chopped herbs (such as parsley or coriander); a knob of butter; a pinch of curry powder
Put the rice into a pan and cover with the liquid. Now's the time to pimp your rice with your favourite flavours – choose from our suggestions above. Simply add in after the water and gently stir through. Bring to the boil, and boil for 9 minutes, keeping the lid on the whole time – don't be tempted to peek!
Remove the lid and allow to stand for 5 minutes, then fluff up with a fork before serving.
